What happens

Training that bends around you

The session combines strength, fitness and functional movement, with every exercise adaptable to your ability and your stage of recovery.

Adapted, not watered down

Exercises change to suit where you are postnatally. It's still proper training, it just starts where you actually are.

Rebuild strength

The aim is to get you moving again, rebuild strength and improve fitness, at a pace that doesn't leave you wrecked for the rest of the day.

An hour that's yours

Plenty of people come as much for the room full of adults as for the training. Both count.

Starting again

When to come back, and who decides

There's no single right answer to when you start training again after having a baby, and it isn't ours to give.

  • Your GP or midwife is the one to ask. Most people have that conversation at their postnatal check. Whatever they say, that's the version we work to.
  • Then tell your coach. One sentence about your birth, your recovery and anything you've been advised changes how the session is set up for you.
  • There's no schedule to be behind. Six weeks or sixteen months, people arrive at every stage and nobody is counting.

Worth knowing

We're coaches, not medical professionals. If you've had a caesarean, complications, pelvic floor issues or anything else you've been given specific advice about, get the all-clear first and bring that advice with you. We'd far rather build the session around it than find out halfway through.

Common questions

Before you come down

Can I really bring my baby to the class?

Yes. That's the whole point of the session. Your baby stays with you throughout, so you don't need to arrange childcare in order to train.

What if my baby cries, or needs feeding partway through?

Then you feed them, or have a cuddle, or change a nappy, and pick the session back up. It's expected and completely welcome. Everyone else in the room is in the same position.

When can I start exercising after giving birth?

That's a question for your GP or midwife rather than for us, and it's usually covered at your postnatal check. Once you've had that conversation, tell your coach what you've been advised and the session gets built around it.

I had a caesarean. Can I still come?

Often yes, but get the all-clear from your GP or midwife first and bring whatever advice they've given you. We'll adapt the movements around it. We're coaches rather than clinicians, so we work to what you've been told medically.

Do I need to be fit already?

No. All fitness levels are welcome and the exercises adapt to your ability and your stage of recovery. Plenty of people come having done nothing since before the birth.

What should I bring?

Trainers, water, and whatever your baby needs. Mats are here. There's free street parking right outside and room for a pram.

What does it cost?

Your first class is free with no card details taken. After that a single class is £20, or The Core Membership is £149.99 a month for every class on the timetable, with no joining fee and no minimum term.
